10 Movies That End In Utter Silence
2. Invasion Of The Body Snatchers (1978)
The 1978 remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers boasts one of the all-time greatest uses of silent credits.
In the iconic final scene of the movie, almost the entire city has been assimilated by the Pods, and when survivor Nancy (Veronica Cartwright) approaches protagonist Matthew (Donald Sutherland), he suddenly points his finger at her while screeching loudly, as he too has become a Pod.
After we zoom into the black void of Matthew's mouth and the scream fades out, the credits play silently, cementing the utterly hopeless bleakness of its ending, especially compared to the more optimistic climax of the original 1956 movie.
As an emphatic exclamation point on the film's all-timer WTF moment of an ending, it was absolutely perfect.
