10 Movies That Fixed Infamous Plot Holes

6. Jason Goes To Hell - How Jason Keeps Coming Back To Life

After so many movies in the Friday the Thirteenth series appeared to have definitively killed off Jason Voorhees, the resident slasher of Camp Crystal Lake, the filmmakers decided that for Part 9 they better finally give fans some sort of an explanation for why that pissed-off goalie keeps coming back from the dead to kill again.

Jason Goes to Hell begins with a heavily armed FBI team blasting Jason away and then blowing him into smithereens. Once his body parts are transported to the morgue, Jason’s spirit begins possessing people to go around committing murders.

Dawg the bounty hunter - oh wait, no - Creighton Duke the bounty hunter explains that Jason will keep coming back to life unless he is stabbed through the heart by one of his kin with a special enchanted dagger. The Necronomicon from The Evil Dead series makes an appearance in Jason’s boyhood home, hinting that his mother used black magic to bring him back from the dead in the first place.

As if this explanation wasn’t enough, in the next installment, Jason X, again Jason is just alive with no explanation and is now a prisoner of the United States government. David Cronenberg playing a government scientist, informs us that Jason has regenerative powers, meaning the series decided to go with he’s a genetic anomaly and not the product of a pact with the devil.

The reason behind Jason’s power of resurrection is altered yet again two years later in the matchup Freddy Vs Jason. In this film, Freddy Krueger is able to bring Jason back to life by morphing himself to look like Jason’s mother and reminds him that he can never die. In this version, Jason simply goes into a dormant state between murder sprees until he is bested again, perhaps only coming back to life once his spirit can sense fresh teenagers engaging in carnal activities, or he gets a whiff of weed.

Maybe the filmmakers should just admit they don’t really know how Jason comes back to life, and at this point, nobody honestly cares as long as he keeps coming back and finding new ways to kill horny people with gardening tools.
