10 Movies That Fixed Infamous Plot Holes
5. Avengers: Infinity War - Heimdall Can Transport Without The Bifröst
The end of the first Thor movie saw the god of thunder using Mjölnr to break the Bifröst, which was how Asgardians can travel to any point in the universe almost instantaneously. Then in the first Avengers movie, he simply shows up knocking on the Quinjet asking, “Oh sirs, may I have my brother back so that I can lay the smacketh down upon him?” After that, there was a question hanging in the air: “Hey, MCU, you guys forgot about something...you know a certain Rainbow Bridge?” It’s never really explained how Thor got to Earth without the Bifröst.
This plot hole was finally answered at the beginning of Infinity War when Heimdall is able to call upon his forefathers to send Hulk back to Earth. This seams up the plot hole pretty nicely, confirming that the Bifröst’s magic partly resided within Heimdall himself, just like how Thor: Ragnarok explained that Thor doesn’t really need Mjölnr to wield the power of lightning.
Since Heimdall’s other power is a cosmic awareness, he would have been able to see that Loki was causing mischief on Earth. And being Thor’s best mate, Heimdall surely called up a favor from the forefathers to send Thor to Earth just as he did for Hulk in Infinity War. You gotta give Marvel credit for squaring that up.
