10 Movies That Made Subtle Character Changes At The Last Minute
6. Older Saw Gerrera Was Given Hair - Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
It's no secret at all that Rogue One: A Star Wars Story went through extensive reshoots to reshape the movie's tone and characters in post-production.
And though Saw Gerrera's (Forest Whitaker) character did receive a noticeable cosmetic change during the course of filming, it wasn't actually the result of reshoots as many suspected.
In later trailers for the film, fans noted that Whitaker, who only appeared bald in the earlier trailers, was now sporting a large mane of grey hair, seeming to suggest the change was a reshoot decision.
Yet Whitaker himself confirmed this wasn't the case, but rather that he and the filmmakers came to the decision to give Saw an altered appearance for his years-later scenes during the course of the original shoot:
"We made some decisions about how the character was progressing. They had a lot of opportunity to make tweaks and different things... You'll see both [looks for the character]."
While it wasn't last-minute enough to be a reshoot decision, the tufty grey hair wasn't something he and director Gareth Edwards arrived at until they were already in production.
