10 Movies That Made You Say 'WTF Were They Thinking'
7. The Final Twist - Remember Me
A smart plot twist can elevate a movie from good to great, or even great to legendary. However, a bad one can take a movie in the exact opposite direction.
It's even worse when a plot twist thinks it's smart, but instead comes across as nonsensical. That's what happened with the largely forgotten 2010 drama Remember Me, whose big plot twist was also needlessly tasteless to boot.
There's nothing particularly wrong with the movie itself, and it was certainly a step up from Robert Pattinson's previous work in the Twilight franchise. It was only at the end of the movie that all reason (and all the movie's promise) was thrown out the window.
Here, it was revealed that Pattinson's Tyler Hawkins was working in the World Trade Centre on 11 September 2001, something that had absolutely nothing to do with the actual story.
In the aftermath, the character's voiceover states that whatever you do in this life will ultimately be insignificant, but that you should do it anyway, because "nobody else will". This could have been a genuinely thought-provoking message if not for the tasteless and offensive exploitation of a global tragedy to try and get it across.
