10 Movies That Picked The Wrong Twist
3. Jigsaw
The Twist We Got
There's two twists for the price of one here - firstly, that the central game in Jigsaw took place 10 years in the past, and that the killer is actually pathologist Logan (Matt Passmore), who survived said game a decade prior and has been waiting in the wings as Jigsaw's (Tobin Bell) original secret apprentice ever since.
The Saw franchise has wildly overused the timeline-rejigging and shadowy apprentice twists over the years, so enthusiasm for Jigsaw's finale was unsurprisingly pretty low.
The Twist We Wanted
Keep it simple and reveal Logan as the killer but not an apprentice. Basically, the twist from Spiral would've worked much better for Jigsaw, that Logan is an independent Jigsaw copycat seeking to test corrupt police officers.
Given that Jigsaw even ends with Logan brutally killing Detective Halloran (Callum Keith Rennie) for freeing a man who later murdered his wife, it fits pretty neatly, but the apprentice and timeline twists just felt like unnecessary, convoluted dead weight.
