10 Movies That Pissed You Off Straight Away

4. Rocky Gets Brain Damage & Goes Broke - Rocky V

Rocky V is admittedly one big, long, depressing exercise in taking a beloved movie hero and grinding him into dust, enough that belated sequel Rocky Balboa effectively ignored most of it.

The film picks up immediately following the events of Rocky IV, with Rocky (Sylvester Stallone) suffering neurological side effects after the brutal battle with Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren).

Rocky is then harassed by the incredibly irritating Don King-esque boxing promoter George Washington Duke (Richard Grant), finds out his accountant has ripped him off and left him broke with massive debts, oh, and he's suffering from irreversible brain damage. This is all in the first 20 minutes.

Clearly the intent was to stack the deck against Rocky more than ever before, but ultimately it just got the movie off to a miserable start from which it never recovered.

It's bleak enough that you'll be begging for Paulie's (Burt Young) robot from Rocky IV to come back just for some damn levity.
