10 Movies That Prove Fanboys Should Never Get What They Want

7. They're Notoriously Difficult To Please - Man Of Steel

Even the most diplomatic of fanboys is going to find plenty to complain about in even the most entertaining movie, because once they've seen a snazzy trailer, they develop these impossibly high standards which the final movie can pretty much never meet (a few rare exceptions aside). The most prominent recent example is last summer's Man of Steel, a competently-made, entertaining popcorn flick that was nevertheless dicked on by the fanboys for a variety of non-reasons, such as the ludicrous amount of property damage in the movie, and Superman's decision to kill Zod rather than allow a number of humans to perish (which, really, wasn't a decision at all). Then consider The Dark Knight Rises, a thrilling conclusion to the Dark Knight saga that was nevertheless torn apart for perceived "plot holes" (many of which were not), to the point that they had pretty much sucked all the joy out of not just the movie itself, but the actual discussion of the movie as well. Essentially, even if you give fanboys a great movie, they're always going to find something to complain about, so it's best for filmmakers not to pander to them too much and simply stick to their vision of any given project: even if the fanboys don't like it, they're far from the biggest slice of the pie.
