3. Boromir - Fellowship Of The Ring

Joker League
New Line Cinema

Over the course of the first leg of Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings trilogy, we witness the effect the all-powerful One Ring has on many an individual. However, arguably the most noticeable Ring-induced alteration comes in the form of the famous Gondorian warrior Boromir's sharp fall into madness.

After trying to convince the Council of Elrond to use the One Ring against Lord Sauron, Boromir would decide to quite literally take matters into his own hands and attempted to relieve Frodo of his burden by force. Once the young Hobbit had fled the scene though, the honourable warrior soon sensed he'd been manipulated by the formidable piece of jewellery.

Then, determined to make up for his immoral behaviour, when faced with a horde of Uruk-Hai that were just about to make mince meat of Merry and Pippin, Boromir fought off the orcs single-handedly. That was, until he was mortally wounded by a series of devastating Lurtz arrows in the dramatic battle.

Just like that, in one valiant sequence, Boromir went from grade A d*ck to admirable hero. Now, be at peace, Son of Gondor.
