10 Movies That Should Have Been Horror
7. Labyrinth
As well as being one of the definitive classic movies of the 80s generation, and the embodiment of Bowie's undeniable charm and charisma, Labyrinth is the kind of film with visuals and a story that would never pass as a lighthearted fantasy release these days.
Revolving around the legend of the Labyrinth, the film follows sixteen year old Sarah Williams traversing through the strange world of Jareth the Goblin King with all of his minions and snazzy tunes in the search for her baby brother.
The puppetry and striking visuals haven't aged the best and have a certain terror that could have them pass within a budget horror movie, but the plot of a strange man kidnapping children wouldn't need much work to land an age rating.
Even the more subtly hidden themes about coming of age and Sarah's growing from a young girl to a woman have been some of the most powerfully hit in the world of horror over the years. Not that it ever should, but if Labyrinth ever found itself in the works for a remake, it would probably swing much closer to the horror genre than anything else.
