10 Movies That Show You Shouldn’t Trust Strangers

This remake of the 1997 Austrian home invasion original tells the tale of the Faber family and their dog who travel to their lake house for a holiday. They meet two friends of their neighbour, called Peter and Paul, who help them put their boat into the lake and seem nice. The fact they appear to be friends with someone they know helps to convince the family to trust them as in their minds they have already been partially vetted as trustable people.

When Peter knocks on the door and asks to borrow some eggs, Ann Faber lets him in as she knows him from their previous interaction. This preconception helps her forgive (although with irritation) that he breaks the eggs and then 'accidentally' knocks her phone into the sink. It is only later that this action is realised as a way of preventing her from calling for help. She also lets Paul borrow one of her husband George's golf clubs to play with outside, blissfully unaware that this will later be used as a weapon against them.

The twisted horrific events that escalate from the point of the pair revealing their true intentions are enough to put you off ever answering the door to anyone again!
