10 Movies That Sold Themselves On Crotches Alone

8. Basic Instinct (1992)

During the '90s Sharon Stone was probably best known as the sexiest women on the planet... ever! And a lot of that praise was due to her role in Paul Verhoeven's neo-noir erotic thriller Basic Instinct, and in particular the infamous interrogation scene where the actress flashed much more than a smile. In the film Michael Douglas plays a detective named Nick Curran who has a troubled past with alcohol and drugs. He is a really good detective so the police want to keep in with him despite his disgraced status. Catherine Tramell (Stone) is a beautiful, wealthy writer of pulp fiction. And she may or may not be a murderous narcissistic psychopath. There are plenty of sex scenes in this film that are fairly explicit but it was of course the Sharon Stone leg crossing bit that ensured the film€™s notoriety and cemented its status. Many men during the time wore out their VHS of the film trying to pause this scene with precision. It's surely the main reason people still remember it twenty-some years later.
