10 Movies That Suck So Bad You Can't Believe They Even Got Made

5. Gigli

The Happening Mark Wahlberg
Columbia Pictures

Martin Brest had plenty of clout in the industry having directed Beverly Hills Cop, Midnight Run and Scent of a Woman, but the reaction to Gigli was so vitriolic that it essentially sent the acclaimed filmmaker into exile, and he hasn't directed a movie since.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez have since seen their careers recover from their days as a couple when they were much better known for being tabloid fodder than anything they did onscreen, but the vanity project could have easily marked the death-knell for both.

For some reason Gigli ended up costing $75m to produce and roped in legends Al Pacino and Christopher Walken, only to tank spectacularly at the box office after failing to even recoup a tenth of the budget in theaters, and was roundly savaged by anyone unfortunate enough to see it, with the infamous 'gobble gobble' scene the stuff nightmares are truly made of.

If you'd have walked out of a screening of Gigli back in the summer of 2003 and turned to the person next to you and told them that one day fans will be devastated that Ben Affleck isn't Batman anymore and Jennifer Lopez was robbed of an Academy Award nomination for playing a stripper, you'd have been laughed out of existence.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
