10 Movies That Teased A Sequel Which Never Happened
7. Zack Snyder's Justice League
It’s clear that Zack Snyder had a vision for the DCEU but unfortunately, we will never see where that story was going to go.
The highly anticipated 2017 Justice League film faced many changes when Zack Snyder had to step down as director due to a family tragedy, handing the reins over to Joss Whedon. However, the theatrical version that was released was not Snyder’s vision for the film starting a worldwide campaign #releasethesnydercut.
Snyder’s version is a more faithful version to the comic book story and overall was a better, darker and grittier film that fans enjoyed. The film ended with a massive cliffhanger showing Clark Kent turning bad after Lois Lane dies, killing both Diana Prince and Arthur Curry.
The “nightmare” sequence saw the return of Jared Leto’s Joker, Deathstroke working alongside Batman and surviving members of the league to defeat the crazed Superman who has since joined Darkseid and destroyed the Earth.
However, major shake-ups within DC happened after the films were released, with James Gunn being appointed as the new co-head of DC. With Gunn’s involvement, DC has since abandoned all previous work and is starting to relaunch the DCEU again with a new cast and storylines.
