10 Movies That Teased A Sequel Which Never Happened

5. Batman & Robin

The fourth instalment of the original Batman film series would ultimately be the last for the camp version of the caped crusader.

Batman & Robin is famous for being terribly bad that it brought the whole franchise to a screeching halt, with George Clooney himself admitting that he thought he had killed the character once and for all.

On paper, it seemed like the perfect film with Uma Thurman as Poison Ivy, Arnold Schwarzenegger as Mr. Freeze and George Clooney as the Batman, but as well all know, that perfect vision wasn’t executed on screen.

The final scene shows Batman, Robin and Batgirl running towards the camera no doubt setting the scene for a fifth instalment with all three characters working together to fight crime.

Director Joel Schumacher was hired to direct a fifth movie before Batman & Robin was completed, but after negative reviews and being dubbed one of the worst superhero films ever made, any future sequels were scrapped.

Schumacher even publicly apologised for the film in 2017. Batman didn’t return to the big screen until Christopher Nolan rebooted the series eight years later with Batman Begins.
