10 Movies That Were Saved By One Genius Tweak
6. The Leading Trio's Old Age Make-Up Didn't Quite Land At First - The Deathly Hallows: Part 2
Returning to those dodgey endings that at one point threatened to end an epic tale on a rather disastrous note, there was a time when the touching conclusion to Harry Potter's eight-film arc was largely overshadowed by some pretty terrible special effects.
Deathly Hallows: Part 2 director David Yates decided pretty early on that he didn't want to swap the actors fans had grown up with for a set of older thespians for the film's emotional epilogue, admitting to EW that “If you spent seven movies with these guys, you know these kids, and you want to end with them."
Yet, after the first attempt to age-up the likes of Daniel Radcliffe and co. via make-up, the director would confess that "we ended up with a scene that for all sorts of reasons, not just the make-up, just didn’t work."
Thankfully, the studio allowed Yates to have another stab at the vital send-off, which Radcliffe himself would also admit felt a tad rushed first time round, and a solution of "simple make-up, which may be enhanced slightly with special effects" was enough to save Harry Potter from a rather lacklustre farewell.
