10 Movies That Were Saved By One Genius Tweak
2. Dan Trachtenberg Is Convinced To Add More Dog - Prey
If there's one thing folks love more than the sight of a human underdog taking on a grizzly-bear-besting Predator, it's the presence of a loveable mutt tagging along for the battle of a life-time.
But director Dan Trachtenberg wasn't aware of just how important a loyal dog by the name of Sarii (a.k.a. Coco in real-life) would eventually be to the overall success of his alien hunting thrill-ride by the name of Prey upon piecing together his movie.
After initially deciding that Amber Midthunder's Naru's trusty sidekick would only have a rather small role in the overall hunting spree, a test screening with friends and family members soon resulted in one simple demand from his nearest and dearest: The film needed more dog, dammit!
And despite pushing back against this request early on, claiming "...we can’t. We are using every usable frame of this dog!”, the team were eventually left with no choice but to find a way to lace more Sarii into the soon-to-be critically acclaimed Hulu flick.
And with Sarii being viewed by many as perhaps the MVP of this Predator-reviving romp, alongside the aforementioned mesmerising Midthunder, it's clear Trachtenberg made the right call in giving this pooch a bigger share of the spotlight.
