Just like Insidious, The Innkeepers was filmed at a notoriously haunted location: the Yankee Pedlar Inn, in Torrington, Connecticut. In fact, the film is actually SET in the establishment.

Arguably the least high-profile movie on this list, The Innkeepers follows two employees at the Yankee Pedlar Inn, who - shortly before it's set to close permanently - decide to do a little bit of ghost hunting to prove that the legends of paranormal activity at the hotel are more than legends. At the center of their supernatural investigation is the specter of Madeline O'Malley, a woman from the 1800s who hanged herself after her fiancé left her at the altar on their wedding day.

So we've got a movie about a haunted hotel, being FILMED at a haunted hotel. Surely this won't go sideways, right? NOPE!

Cast and crew reported lights switching off and on for no reason, as well doors slamming shut and swinging open inexplicably. An eerier phenomenon involved cast and crew members getting phone calls, only for there to be nothing but dead silence on the other end of the line.

Slamming doors, leaving lights on, awkward phone calls... It was probably the ghost of a teenager.
