5. Annabelle
Dammit, James Wan! Why are you like this?!
Annabelle follows Mia and John, a married couple who start experiencing a plethora of supernatural phenomena after two cultists die in their home - one by gunshot, one by brutal suicide. The titular Annabelle doll is possessed by a demonic spirit, which torments the previously happy couple.
There may have been some otherworldly torment going on behind the scenes, too. Director John Leonetti claims to have seen three mysterious fingerprints on a dusty window on set. It's worth noting that the demon possessing Annabelle has three fingers.
But that's just fingerprints. That's nothing, right?
Oh, there's more, and this is harder to dismiss. In the script, there's a scene in which the demon possessing Annabelle kills a janitor in the hallway. While they were preparing to film that scene, says producer Peter Safran, a large light fixture fell from the ceiling and landed right on the janitor actor's head.
Kinda weird, right? They were filming a scene where the demon kills the janitor in the hallway, and the actor playing the janitor is nearly killed by a "fluke" falling light fixture in that same hallway?
No wonder James Wan insists on having his sets blessed.
