10 Movies Today's Teens 'Need' Less Than Love, Simon
3. Transformers: The Last Knight
If the prior films weren't offensive enough to the senses in every way, Michael Bay brings his A-game to this one and makes it easily the most visceral assault on decency possible.
Everything that defines the Transformers series is here on full-display: rampant racism, homophobia, objectification and sexualization of every female character. The list goes on, but the sexualization part is especially gross in this one, considering that one of Bay's objects of lust is a young girl.
Where the previous film went to great lengths to talk about how it was legal for a seventeen-year-old to have sex with her older boyfriend thanks to some legal loop-holes, this film goes the extra mile and throws in a young girl for Bay's camera to ogle over like everyone else.
Which is beyond disgusting and made all the more egregious by the fact that Bay clearly thinks he's doing the entire female gender a favor. The girl's role in the film was constantly highlighted with 'fight like a girl' ads and she ultimately has nothing to do in the film. She was chucked in thanks to some studio mandate as an attempt to stay socially relevant, but Bay has no idea how to handle any politically-sensitive subject with anything other than brute force.
