Vin Diesel has portrayed Xander Cage in all three of the XXX film series - an extreme sports enthusiast and spy who is recruited by the NSA. A fourth entry was apparently green-lit in 2018 off the back of the general success of the franchise, grossing in excess of $650 million worldwide.

While shooting the initial 2002 film, there was an accident that resulted in the death of a stunt performer. Harry O'Connor was the stunt double for Vin Diesel and lost his life while filming a scene in Prague involving a paraglider.

O'Connor was a veteran stuntman and skydiver and had already successfully completed the stunt once. While attempting it a second time, he collided with the Palacký Bridge and died from extensive injuries after the paraglider which was being towed at high speed ran into a column of the bridge.

Having previously worked on Air Force One and The Perfect Storm, Harry O'Connor was a well-respected professional and it is still unclear whether the second attempt was at his own request or that of the director.

The footage from the first, successful stunt was included in the final cut of the film.
