10 Movies Where People Died On Set
7. The Dark Knight
When the Christopher Nolan directed 2008 film was released it was a number of things. It was enormously financially successful, making back over ten times its budget. It was well-received critically and by audiences, being praised for almost every aspect from music to mood.
However, it was also surrounded by enough tragedy to have murmurings of a "curse" going around the set.
While most people are familiar with the passing of Heath Ledger from an accidental drug overdose following filming, they may be less familiar with the second name that appears in the "dedicated to" segment of the credits - Conway Wickliffe.
Conway was a 41-year-old cameraman who lost his life while filming a practice run for an upcoming stunt. Leaning out of the back window of a vehicle as it drove along at speeds of only 20mph, he sustained devastating injuries when the vehicle collided with a tree.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) brought the case to a UK court where the incident was ruled as an accidental death. Due to the relatively low speeds involved and the fact that Wickliffe was not wearing his seatbelt, the court asserted that the film production was not at fault.
