10 Movies Where People Died On Set
6. The Expendables 2
No one has ever accused The Expendables of being overly-complicated or plumbing the depths of the human experience too much. Instead, it is unashamedly and unabashedly mindless - and that is not intended to be an insult by any stretch.
Pulling together a who's who of the most iconic action stars to form a cast that would make other films cower in embarrassment - Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li, Terry Crews and Sylvester Stallone alongside combat sport legend Randy Couture and WWE's own Stone Cold Steve Austin - the original 2010 film comfortably tripled its budget at the box office and was followed by another two sequels that did well financially and garnered mixed reviews.
The Expendables 2 was released in 2012 and added Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Arnie to the cast (among others) while enjoying a better critical response. However, tragedy struck when 26-year-old Kun Liu was killed on set while filming in Bulgaria.
Performing in an inflatable boat, he and a second stuntman were caught up in one of the film's explosions and Kun Liu lost his life while the second man eventually recovered. Liu's parents sued both the stunt coordinator and film company.
The result of the lawsuit is unknown.
