10 Movies Where The Post-Credit Scene Is The Best Part

5. Don't Look Up

By its very critical and satirical nature, Adam McKay's Don't Look Up was always going to be somewhat divisive, something confirmed by its reception and Rotten Tomatoes scores. Quite simply, some people loved it, and some people hated it.

The story revolved around two astronomers - Leonardo DiCaprio's Dr. Randall Mindy and Jennifer Lawrence's Kate Dibiasky - trying to get the world to listen to the fact that there was an extinction-level comet hurling its way towards Earth. As a serious allegory for the dangers of climate change, it's not exactly the kind of film you'd expect to feature a post-credit scene.

Yet, the 2021 outing boasted two scenes that both gave closure on two of the most hated characters in the entire thing, namely President Orlean and her son, Jason (Meryl Streep and Jonah Hill). Both were infuriatingly dismissive of Mindy and Dibiasky's claims, belittling them and making fun of them, and both were served with their comeuppance once the film had finished.

President Orlean, as one of the 2,000 people who fled the Earth to another planet, survived in her new home just minutes before being eaten by a dinosaur-like predator, while Jason was left as the last man alive on Earth, still pleading with his now-dead followers to like and subscribe to his videos. While Don't Look Up itself was divisive, these scenes were funny and served as fitting endings to two heinous characters.
