10 Movies Whose CinemaScores Make No Sense
1. Shutter Island
CinemaScore: C+
It seems like the people who fill out ballots for CinemaScore tend to have something against Leonardo Dicaprio as another great film he's in only gets a mediocre score.
Where Shutter Island works is how it creates a sense of tension and uneasiness throughout. Something always feels off about the island and that brings the viewers into the mystery that Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Ruffalo are trying to solve.
One part of the film that does separate audiences though is the twist, as some viewers feel that the twist was a bit easy and didn't really capitalise on the suspense the film built. While others felt that the twist was great and was smartly built up to.
Whatever way people see the twist, it shouldn't drop the film all the way down to a C+. As the film is too good in most other departments to not be better than the Smith family's After Earth which received a B grade from CinemaScore.
