10 Movies With Post-Credits Scenes That Change Everything
5. Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End
The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is actually filled with post-credits scenes that probably should be in the actual movie. For example, at the end of Curse of the Black Pearl, there's the scene explaining why Jack the monkey will continue to be immortal in subsequent films, something that would make zero sense if you didn't stay until the end of that movie. At World's End is definitely the best example of this, though, with a scene after the credits so vital it's kind of shocking that it wouldn't just actually be in the movie. At the end of the film itself, Will has to sail the Dutchman as its captain, saying goodbye to Elizabeth. If you didn't stay until the end of the credits, this is kind of a depressing ending, with Will sailing away from Elizabeth and it being pretty unclear if they'll see each other again. We might assume this will be resolved in the next movie, but then Will and Elizabeth aren't even in that one. So what happened? Well, the fate of the two main characters of the series was resolved in a post-credits scene. It's pretty reasonable to assume that a lot of people would have left the near three hour film as soon as the credits began, especially as this was in 2007, before Marvel really made us all aware of how important these scenes can be. If they did leave, though, they missed seeing Will and Elizabeth reunite ten years later, presumably with Will now free from the ship. Kind of important, don't you think? Why wasn't this just the actual end of the movie? Who knows, but if one were to watch through the series and not realise this scene is here, the franchise would have separated the two main characters from each other only for them to disappear forever. Great ending, huh? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Vd7tdh-vl8
