Cemented as one of the greatest musical films ever and the performance that gave John Travolta the platform to build his illustrious career from, Grease has long been a beloved film for everyone to enjoy.

Where some of the film's plot may not hold up nowadays - some parts really don't hold up - it is made up for by the stellar soundtrack that will be recognisable even to people that have never seen it.

Based on the budding romance between the clean-cut Sandy and the bad-boy Danny, there is a lot of back-and-forth in their relationship. Danny, leader of a greaser gang, feels he must maintain his toxic bravado throughout, which ends up turning Sandy off of him.

Although they attempt a few dates throughout, it always backfires. We all know that the two are destined to be together, it is just a case of when.

This all sounds pretty reasonable for a teenage rom-com, right? That is until, in the final scene of the movie, Sandy and Danny get into their car and quite literally fly away. This is while all of their classmates wave them off.

Many fans have tried to justify this with several theories, such as the idea that this was all Sandy's dying dream after she drowned at the beach, but no. Just no.
