5. Rango
It wasn't that Rango was bad or went out to insult my intelligence or anything, but that it was so absent-minded. I could not get a handle on what the filmmakers really wanted to get at here. It was an animated-western about a chameleon whose characterization was more scattered than my feelings for the film. The movie seemed to be really acting on its own, trying to entertain only itself. I am really unsure how it appealed to the target audience, if it ever achieved that. Watching Rango twice would be like sipping a cold cup of coffee. I know what to expect and I'm not going to get anything out of it. The animation is great, voice work is great, and I give the story a bit more than most animated films, but its execution just didn't affect me as a viewer. I'm glad there are those who will sit through Rango again, but I can simply say I will not.
