10 Movies You Could've Watched Instead Of Campaigning For The Snyder Cut

8. The Raid 2: Berandal

Mission Impossible Fallout
Sony Pictures Classics

When it comes to violence that make you wince or gasp in horror and or delight, nothing compared to The Raid films. The Indonesian martial arts of Penkat Silat, is still relatively unknown in the Western world, but with the help of The Raid films, audience' awareness has certainly grown.

The first film, titled The Raid: Redemption, is still a classic and might be favoured more over the second film by some fans. But an argument could be made that The Raid 2: Berandal is more diverse with its action set pieces, and does a tremendous job giving its characters more flair and customisation.

The variety of the fight scenes, as well as the styles and characters doing all the fighting is so unique you might assume you're watching half a dozen completely different movies spliced together.

The whole film operates with characters so unique they could have been ripped from a comic book.

It's a martial arts epic folded into crime noir, and given the fact it was made on a budget literally 1/75th of Justice League's, it really goes to show that just because you throw a king's fortune at a flick, doesn't immediately make it a better film.

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
