10 Movies You Could've Watched Instead Of Campaigning For The Snyder Cut
6. Speed
Superhero movies (including Marvel) might be rich in spectacle, but they lack a heavy weight of tension that most films possess. Steppenwolf's assault on Earth for the Mother Boxes might be apocalyptic, but we as an audience can't relate because (quite frankly) we've seen all this nonsense before.
It's crazy to think that a film about a bus that needs to stay above a certain speed would have more stakes and tension than a film about a demon army invading Earth. But it does.
Speed works as a better and more ideal film to watch because within twenty minutes of the movie, the bomb is on the bus and the main characters have been established. Twenty minutes into Justice League and the film is still peppering the narrative into the film and failing to tug at audience' heartstrings with ancillary characters acting as collateral damage.
While Justice League does have the most straightforward story in the DCEU, a movie like Speed has a plot which on paper, is harder to follow, but we as an audience still understand the rules of the film and know what everyone is doing because it's spelled out for us clearly.
