10 Movies You Didn't Know Recycled Footage From Other Films
4. Attack Of The Clones Borrowed Jedi Temple Footage From The Phantom Menace
Sticking with a galaxy far, far away, and Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones found itself in a bind when it needed to revisit the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. Many of the actors who brought the Jedi Council to life were no longer accessible after the prequel trilogy's production shifted from England to Australia between movies.
Rather than recasting a bunch of aliens and have the special effects team provide additional CGI, director George Lucas lifted shots of the Council from the previous movie, The Phantom Menace, and carried them over to the sequel.
For eagle-eyed fans, the recycling was easy to spot. During the scene where Anakin and Obi-Wan address the Council, the backdrops are identical to a sequence in the previous movie where Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon Jinn attend them temple.
Borrowing anything from the Phantom Menace is no doubt a last resort for Star Wars filmmakers, but in this case, it did save Lucas time and money.
