10 Movies You Didn't Know Were Named After Songs

5. Dazed And Confused

Chris Evans Knives Out
Gramercy Pictures

Set in Texas 1976, this 1993 coming-of-age comedy follows different groups of teenagers during their last day of school. Although only a minor success on its initial release, Dazed and Confused would gather a cult following over the years, and helped to establish the careers of such stars as Matthew McConaughey, Ben Affleck and Milla Jovovich.

Writer and director, Richard Linklater, took the title from the song Dazed and Confused, which was made famous by Led Zeppelin. Initially it was only a working title as Linklater could not think of anything else for the film. In the end he kept it as he felt that it captured the essence of the story.

But, it would appear that not everyone in Led Zeppelin was happy with the link between the song and the film. Linklater approached the surviving members of the band for permission to use their tune Rock and Roll on the film. Whilst Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones agreed, Robert Plant, for whatever reason, refused, and, so the soundtrack ended up being Led Zeppelin free.
