10 Movies You Had No Idea They Remade

7. The Killer

Tucker and Dale vs Evil Handsome Guys
Peacock

John Woo's 1989 heroic bloodshed flick The Killer is one of the greatest action films of all time, enough that it was surely just a matter of time before Hollywood remade it for Western audiences, subtitles be damned. And in fact, efforts to remake The Killer began way back in 1992, with Richard Gere and Denzel Washington originally set to star, but numerous versions of the remake ended up stalling in development, including one intended be shot in 3D in the late 2000s.

By 2015, Woo evidently decided to just remake it himself, with Lupita Nyong'o initially cast in a lead role, but after the years dragged on without much forward momentum, Nyong'o ended up exiting the project. Woo's new version of The Killer was finally shot last year with Nathalie Emmanuel and Omar Sy playing the two leads, and rather unceremoniously released on streaming service Peacock this past August.

You couldn't be even remotely blamed for missing this one given how little promo it received, and the aggressively fine reviews didn't help either. It's not awful by any means, but not a patch on a bonafide genre classic.
