2. The Mask
Yooooou can probably tell that something's going to be drastically different between these two simply by looking at that side-by-side comparison... but even then you probably won't guess just how different. The film was released in 1994 and proved to be one of the hits that pushed Jim Carrey into the stratosphere, as it told the story of a down on his luck banker who finds a mask containing the spirit of Lodi which transforms his life for better and for worse. Much hijinx ensue. The comic though... was a bit of a shock to me as a kid. Every character who wears the Mask becomes dangerous and cruel, with their actions being ultraviolent despite what the wearer's original intention might have been - in stark contrast to how the mask works in the film where it heightens the wearers personality and leaves all inhibitions behind. The comic is fun if you want something absurd/sinister to read with an ultraviolent Looney Toons vibe, but it doesn't beat the film for fun.
