10 Movies You Should Watch (Even Though They Suck)

6. Army Of The Dead

The Grey Man
Netflix

After Justice League was ripped away from Zack Snyder, everyone wanted the mistreated director's next film to be a mega-hit. So, when he announced his next project was Army of the Dead, everyone was optimistic. Because his Dawn of the Dead remake was among the best zombie films ever, we all assumed Snyder would knock it out of the park once again.

But Army of the Dead was a bit of a mess. As can be expected from Snyder, there's not enough characterisation and way too many ideas. Why are there UFOs? Why are there zombie robots? We don't know because these plot points are never explained. Also, the cliched characters make such dumb decisions, it's hard to give a damn when a undead creature starts wolfing down their face.

Because of these flaws, many critics stated that Army of the Dead has nothing redeemable about it, save for the creative credits sequence in the opening.

But this could not be further from the truth. The final shoot-out is phenomenally choreographed, shot, and edited. The way the film introduces the concept of zombie pregnancies is deeply intriguing. Although some roles are underwritten, every actor gives it their all.

Snyder's zombie blockbuster may not be perfect but it's ridiculous to suggest Army of the Dead has nothing worth praising.
