10 Movies You Should Watch (Even Though They Suck)

5. Malignant

The Grey Man
New Line Cinema

Because James Wan worked on The Conjuring and Saw, many assumed his film, Malignant, would be another mind-blowing horror destined to turn into an influential and lucrative franchise.

Instead, Malignant was more bewildering than anyone could imagine.

The film centres a woman called Madison who has visions of people being brutally killed. When she learns these murders are actually happening, she wonders what her connection is to them. Is she psychic? Does she has a split-personality?

But when the truth is revealed, you can't help rolling your eyes. It turns out the killer is Gabriel - a conjoined twin/psychic tumour living in Madison's brain... No, really.

Even though this twist is impossible to take seriously, the scenes of Gabriel taking control of Madison save the movie. Because Gabriel is on the back of Madison's brain, she moves backwards while he pilots her body. So, while Gabriel kills cops during the police station sequence, Madison's back is facing them for the entire fight. Although this is a neat idea, it could've looked stupid if it wasn't done right.

But thanks to Marina Mazepa, the contortionist who plays Madison in the fight scenes, watching Gabriel taking down these cops is unlike anything you've ever seen.
