10 Movies You Won't Believe Cost So Much Money

8. Jack And Jill - $79 Million

Evan Almighty Budget
Columbia Pictures

Most of Jack and Jill is just Adam Sandler talking to himself in simple interiors, playing both Jack and his twin sister Jill, so it seems like that would cost between $20 and $30 million at the very most.

Actually, Jack and Jill's budget was somehow $79 million. That's over twice the cost of the sci-fi alien film District 9. With this one, the only possible explanation is that almost all of the money went to pay Adam Sandler, Katie Holmes and Al Pacino, and maybe $10 million was spent on the actual movie. There's just no way any scene in this simple, dumb comedy was that expensive, unless they deleted a sequence of Adam Sandler burning money on screen.

The film grossed $150 million worldwide, so it ended up being relatively successful. But for comparison, a much better comedy like Bridesmaids has a far more appealing aesthetic, cost only $32 million and grossed nearly $300 million.
