10 Movies You Won't Believe Were Rated PG

6. Howard The Duck

THE MASK 2
Universal Pictures

The 1986 comedy, Howard the Duck, was Marvel's first film adaptation to receive a cinematic release. Not Spider-Man. Not X-Men. Marvel thought Howard the Duck as their best bet. If that sounds ridiculous, the movie is more preposterous than you could possibly imagine.

Our story begins with Howard reading a porno magazine called PlayDuck. Just to be clear; THIS is the first scene in the movie! Marvel believed Howard the Duck was their vehicle to launch dozens of more adaptations and they thought this was the best way to start the film!

Literally a minute later, we see a duck's bare breasts while she is having a bath. In another scene, we see Howard (who I must remind you is a duck) making out with a human woman. As she strokes him, the feathers on his head stand on end, implying he has an erection. There's nothing wrong with a bit of risqué humour in a kids movie but Howard the Duck's jokes have the subtlety of an atomic bomb.

If you ever wondered why it took so long for Marvel to set up a cinematic universe, now you know.
