10 Movies You'll Never See For INSANE Reasons

1. The Film Negative Was Damaged - In God's Hands

And finally, here's a situation that in the very least can't actually happen to the vast majority of movies being made today.

Lodge Kerrigan's (Clean Shaven, Claire Dolan) third film was meant to be In God's Hands, a child abduction drama starring Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard.

Though the actual shoot went smoothly, things went south during post-production when the original camera negative was irretrievably damaged somehow, making it impossible for the film to be finished.

An appreciably distraught Kerrigan couldn't bring himself to reshoot the movie again, but aided by producer Steven Soderbergh and an insurance payout from the whole mess, he instead set about making a new film about the same topic.

This film turned out to be the Damian Lewis and Abigail Breslin-starring drama Keane, which released to positive reviews in 2004.

With the overwhelming majority of movies now being shot digitally and footage being carefully backed up by on-set technicians, at least there's virtually zero chance of this happening nowadays.

And yet, the precise particulars of quite what happened to the negative here haven't ever been publicly discussed, possibly for legal reasons.
