2. Aaron Paul - Smashed (2012)
While only 34 years old, Aaron Paul has over 60 acting credits to his name. He got his start doing guest spots on shows like Beverley Hills, 90210 and Melrose's Place. He often played a frat boy or some form of inebriated young person. Which is one of the reasons Smashed was chosen for this entry. Despite starring two promising young actors, Aaron Paul and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, the film did not get a wide release and was mostly circulated amongst film festivals. Smashed is about a married young couple, Kate and Charlie, who love to get drunk together. Their marriage is thrown into turmoil when Kate decides to get sober. Paul plays Charlie, who struggles with his wife's decision. While in a supporting role, he is vital to the energy of the film - mostly as a foil to Kate as she gets sober. There are many parallels between the character of Charlie and Breaking Bad's Jesse Pinkman, but the role still gives Paul a chance to show off his acting skills. As an added bonus, the movie also stars the amazing Nick Offerman (Ron Swanson on Parks and Recreation - as if you needed me to tell you!).
