10 Must-Watch Fantasy Movies For People Who Don't Like Fantasy

3. The Prestige

Not to be flippant, but The Prestige is (at least these days) probably one of Christopher Nolan's most underrated films. As a mid-2000's film about magicians, it can be forgiven if audiences every now and then mistake it for the horrifically forgettable The Illusionist.

Just with Nolan's name attached at the top should be big enough of a selling point, but what newcomer audiences won't understand is that when they begin unpacking the film, fantasy-fan or not, they'll immediately want to re-watch it to find the subtleties within the execution.

I'm not going to spoil such a film, but rest assured that a movie about two rivalling magicians using science, technology and a lot of fake beards to best and undermine one another, dovetails very quickly into the fantastical in a way that has to be seen to be believed.

Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman are stellar as the rivalling leads, and Scarlet Johansson is in her natural habitat as the femme fatale caught between the two. And let's not forget the most fantastical part of the whole film, probably more magical than the magic itself; David Bowie as Nikolai Tesla.

If that wasn't on everyone's must-watch lists, it certainly is now.

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
