10 New Films You Didn't Expect From Dead Movie Franchises (That Look Terrible)

6. Jurassic Park 4

JP4 There's been rumours of a fourth Jurassic Park for years €“ hence why this one doesn't place higher on the list €“ but the announcement still came as quite a shock. Jurassic Park IV has been stuck in development hell since the third movie came out back in 2001 and as we know, long gestating sequels rarely work. The film has recently had its release date pushed back, probably because Universal realised you can€™t just pump out a film in a year (who knew), but that doesn't give hope the end product will be anything special. The first Jurassic Park is Steven Spielberg at his absolute best, crafting an exciting, smart blockbuster that doesn't pander to the lowest demographic and is accessible to all. The sequels weren't all out terrible, they just couldn't match the adrenaline thrill of the first one. As an overall €˜trilogy€™, it worked fine and certainly didn't do a Matrix. However, a fourth entry is just unnecessary. The initial draw of the special effects will have been negated by twenty years of development and like so many sequels, the spark just won€™t be there.
