10 Non-Christmas Films You Can TOTALLY Get Away With Watching This Festive Season
5. Gremlins
After desperately searching for a gift for his son Billy, a gadget salesman comes across a store in Chinatown and decides to buy the Mogwai. Although he is reluctant, the shop keeper sells it to the man but gives him a list of things NOT to do with this seemingly adorable creature. After having water spilled on it, five more Mogwais sprout and they form a malicious gang, tricking Billy into feeding them past midnight.
How to convince others: Although the film was released in the summer of 1984, make no mistake, this is a Christmas movie and is set around the events that transpire on Christmas eve. Of all the alternative Christmas films featured on this list, I suspect this one will get the least amount of push back.
The reason it made the list is because, although it is undoubtedly a Christmas movie, it doesn't get the same sort of attention that Home Alone, The Grinch or even Die Hard gets around this time of year. If that still doesn't convince them, then surely the fact the film stars the aptly named Polly Holliday will be enough to show them this film was destined to be a holiday classic.
