10 Non-Christmas Films You Can TOTALLY Get Away With Watching This Festive Season
6. Jumanji
Released in December 1995, this adventure film with Robin Williams, Kirsten Dunst and Jonathan Hyde has enough nightmare fuel to give children everywhere fresh nightmares about carnivorous vines and monkeys with shotguns.
After being sucked into a video game for almost 30 years, Alan (Robin Williams) emerges from Jumanji and together with Judy (Dunst), Peter (Bradley Pierce) and Sarah (Bonnie Hunt) has to finish the game in order to restore order to the havoc that it has caused.
How to convince others: First and foremost, the film was released in mid December to a great reception grossing 263 million dollars worldwide. To be honest, the only Christmas scene that features is right at the end when Alan and Sarah give Judy and Peter presents at their Christmas party. Robin Williams dresses as Santa and David Alan Grier is on the piano singing Christmas carols.
The fact that the Christmas scene is at the end is perfect though, because by the time they've seen the Christmassy bit it's already too late to turn the film off! In fact, you can trick them by saying they only have to watch the film until the Christmas scene comes on. You sneaky devil, you!
