8. That Container Just Didn't Want To Stay Closed - Alien: Covenant

Continuity can be a tough one to keep an eye on when a scene requires actors to handle a few different objects and a number of different shots. And that's why filmmakers often assign a person the specific job of making sure there are no inconsistencies during the filming of a sequence.

But that still doesn't mean that the odd little error can't slip through the cracks during the edit and make its way into the finished picture.

When this happens, a moment that should've been a fairly simple and unspectacular one can swiftly turn into an unintentionally amusing beat. That was certainly the case during the scene when Carmen Ejogo's Karine Oram hands Benjamin Rigby's Ledward a container on the uncharted planet in Ridley Scott's frightening sci-fi sequel Alien: Covenant.

As she passes the pot over to Ledward, the lid is clearly pressed down by Oram. But then, as the shot changes, the lid is miraculously open again before being shut once again (via Reddit). This little guy just did not want to play ball.

This was clearly little more than a blatant continuity snafu, and one that was likely missed by many initially as it comes and goes in the space of only a few seconds. But once you know where to look, it sticks out like a baby Xenomorph poking out of a chest.

Or maybe the crew of the Covenant were just really bad at their jobs and needed two attempts to pull off something as simple as sealing a container properly.
