A character study of a much-loved actress (Grace Kelly) being played by another much loved actress (Nicole Kidman): what's not to like? In addition to this, it boasts an Oscar-friendly director behind it in Olivier Dahan (La Vie en Rose), though given that Kelly's family have already slammed the film's lack of authenticity pre-release, and it has been delayed for a long time (it finished filming roughly a year ago), it's possible that this one might be quietly dumped in March because Harvey Weinstein has come to realise that it's really just another disaster like last year's Diana. Still, pending a total failure, Kidman is probably going to earn a lot of goodwill with her performance, and perhaps pull the same honour as Meryl Streep in The Iron Lady, of winning an Oscar for a very good performance in a not very good film. Failing that, there's always the less-judgmental world of the Golden Globes, right?
