10 Obviously Uninsurable Actors Who Insist On Doing Their Own Stunts

2. Arnold Schwarzenegger

When you're as physically huge as someone like Arnold Schwarzenegger it can prove more than a little difficult to find a stunt double who matches your size. When that's the case, it's often easier if you simply perform the stunts yourself, which is what Arnie often elected to do in order to make sure that the character appeared the same throughout a scene. If any one actor is synonymous with Hollywood action movies in the 80s and 90s, it is without a doubt Schwarzenegger. The biggest name in the industry (both in terms of box office and the number of letters in his name), he starred in a number of hugely successful action films widely regarded as classics of the genre. While his post-political return to the screen hasn't exactly matched the great heights of his earlier years, he still likes to perform his own stunts. That said, in one respect he's starting to show his age - in a recent interview he stated that, in addition to performing his own stunts he sometimes takes a nap in the afternoon. Perhaps Schwarzenegger's most impressive stunt can be seen in Commando, the wonderfully over-the-top action film in which he plays an ex Special Forces soldier rescuing his daughter from evil kidnappers. In one scene he jumps off the landing gears of a plane - as it's starting to take off at over 70 miles per hour. Arnie was injured a few times on this film alone, but the credibility he earned for performing his own stunts - not to mention the huge bank account - no doubt made it all worthwhile.
