10 Obviously Uninsurable Actors Who Insist On Doing Their Own Stunts
9. Chloe Moretz
It's always impressive when you realise an actor is performing their own stunts - for one thing, it stops the audience being pulled out of the action, maintaining the illusion of cinema. It's even more impressive, though, when the actor in question is a 12-year-old girl by the name of Chloe Moretz, kicking and spinning across the screen as if she's just stepped out of a Matrix movie. Hit Girl was one of cinema's pleasant surprises - sidekick children in action movies are often the death knell for a film's credibility, and it's to the credit of both the writers of Kick-Ass and Moretz's performance that her foul-mouth, hard as nails character works so effectively. It certainly helped considerably that Moretz spent weeks training to perfect the moves, delivering a performance which ranks with the best of Hollywood combat scenes out there. If Ford's elderly status made the insurance guys nervous, it's hard to imagine the level of sweats they'd be having at the thought of having to fork out if something went wrong for Moretz. Fortunately that never happened - after all, when you've spent three months hardcore training with Jackie Chan's stunt team you'd be hard pushed to find a group of professionals who could prepare you for the role any better.
