10 Obviously Uninsurable Actors Who Insist On Doing Their Own Stunts
6. Daniel Craig
The James Bond film canon is synonymous with impressive stunts - each iteration of the franchise can be viewed as a progression of the profession; bigger, scarier and more daring than the last, with increasingly elaborate car chases and fight scenes lighting up the screen. Like the other actors on this list, Daniel Craig is more than eager to fully immerse himself in the role and perform as many of his own stunts as the insurance guys will allow. Skyfall's hugely entertaining opening scene is perhaps one of the best Bond pre-credit action scenes in the history of the series, as Bond chases down an enemy agent across the rooftops of Istanbul and onto a speeding train. Eschewing CGI and going fully practical enhances the adrenaline rush of the sequence, but seeing Daniel Craig as Bond running over the arm of the crane after it has torn the back of the train open makes the scene all the more special. Stunt coordinator Gary Powell explained just why Craig insists on performing any stunt his insurance company will allow him to: "He feels like he cheating the audience. It's not an ego thing. Like, 'Look at me up there!' When the audience pays their money and goes to see the film, he wants them to know it's him up there." It's an ethos which certainly pays off in the final product.
