10 Obviously Uninsurable Actors Who Insist On Doing Their Own Stunts

4. Jason Statham

Jason Statham certainly knows a thing or two about throwing himself off great heights - in his earlier days he was a member of Britain's National Diving Squad for 12 years. After being picked up by a sports modelling agency, it didn't take long before he started making appearances in movies; a rising star who traded diving into swimming pools with diving from exploding buildings. It's fair to say that Jason Statham isn't exactly an actor with the greatest of range - he falls into that category of action hero who, for the most part, tends to play the same character over and over. Still, to his credit, he's one of the most hands-on action performers currently working in the industry, using his experience with Wing Chun, karate and kickboxing to stage some of Hollywood's more memorable fight scenes, even going up against the legendary Hong Kong action star Jet Li. Last year, Statham called for a stunt actor category to be added to the Academy Awards, and he certainly has a point - stuntmen and women risk their lives for the movies and certainly deserve more credit than they currently get. As Statham puts it, €œNobody is giving them any credibility. They€™re risking their necks. And then you've got poncy actors pretending like they€™re doing .€
